Dad

Dad came up and spent the night Wednesday. He took mom to dinner at Fuji restaurant and a movie. She was so excited when he was here. I got up at 7:00 Thursday morning and she met me in the kitchen fully dressed with lipstick on and said “has he left yet?” No mom, I don’t think anyone’s awake yet. She popped in and out of her room while I made breakfast impatiently waiting. It’s good to know she has forgotten their rough years. Almost therapeutic for her to literally “forgive and forget “.

Dad reading the newspaper on the couch, mom doing dishes, and me enjoying a rare moment, captured by the security camera.
Then Joe came up and worked on getting the electricity ran for moms room to get her fireplace and closets installed in a couple weeks. Mom mistakenly thinks that Joe is her brother Ron. Ron once took moms VW Bug and crashed it. Now she sees Joe and thinks he owes her a new one….. 🚙
(I forgot to get a picture with Joe,dang it)
She seems more alert when we have visitors, it’s like she is putting in a real effort, but when they leave, the effort is gone. We were making a thanksgiving menu yesterday and I asked her if there was a dish she would like to have or make. She stated “I don’t know, you have done everything since I’ve been here, so I cannot do anything for myself anymore.” It’s hard to take the blame for her decline but I just nodded and agreed.

So glad Royal came to visit. One time when she called she said, Hello, Larry, this is your mom. But as the discussion progressed, she realized who he was.
