David

First, I’m so proud we finished our 3rd (or fourth) Book Club book tonight! This time we read ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’ it only took us 3 weeks, winter is much easier to get together.

I love this group!

David my David, first born, first true love. He made me grow up fast and was my best “bubba” hehe. He hated being called that. I’m pretty sure his first full sentence was yelling “my names’ NOT BUBBA!”

We moved up to Wyoming, just before David’s 3rd birthday.  Just him and I and a high-school friend. I left Utah for a “Job” but at that time I was also trying to keep my boy safe from drama and well meaning family who wanted too much say in how I raised my son.

He was the reason I got up every morning. “Momma, I can’t get up yet! I need to rewind my dreams!” We found the best in-home daycare with friends his age (remember Tyler?). Our days consisted of bike rides, neighborhood friends in and out all day, camping, traveling and ball games.

We took long drives back and forth to Utah to visit family a few times every month. We only had one option for music when we hit the canyons and we lost the radio stations, ‘The Best of the Eagles’. My three year old David had ‘Desperado’ memorized and would sing at the top of his lungs.

David is so observant and intelligent.  He was constantly quietly watching and taking in everything. Always curious, wandering off didn’t phase him in the least. So independent and when he found himself lost, he was very calm. I would often trail him when he got to wandering, once at the Hogal Zoo, once at a Mountain Man Rendezvous, just to see what would happen when he found himself alone. No big deal. Curious, but not worried.

All his teachers loved David, I think he got a little lost in the shuffle of middle school, academic wise. But moving to Salt Lake and getting him into the charter school, East Hollywood High was the best decision. That school was made for him.

Ever the enigma, he loves playing devils advocate, his debating skills are superior and he would make an excellent lawyer. His dad and grandma Walker should be proud. He didn’t fall too far from the tree there. 😉

He is such a loyal worker and every job he had, he’s always promoted rapidly to management, if he likes it or not (Mostly not). He’s always been good with finances and ever since he moved out, has never asked for handouts or loans. In fact I’ve been the only one to ask for a loan in this relationship (long story, involving forgotten wallets).

Recently he moved up close by us, to help with caretaking and being close to family. We love having him here and the young boys love their big brother. They drive each other crazy and love each other to pieces too. He’s such a huge help, both at grandmas’ house and here. Tonight he made us chicken tacos with his special sauce. Always a foodie, and so smart with flavors.

He helps with motivation and getting the guys to the gym. And grocery shopping. And Book Club. And repairs. And we take advantage of him. But I don’t know how we did it without him just a few months ago. Your amazing and wonderful and one of my best friends. Love you David!
