Door
3 years ago we remodeled our garage for a mother-in-law suite. As most major projects go, we ran out of money and sacrifices had to be made. This poor door was one of those. We tried to make it better by replacing the single handle lock so Kristy could get in without a key. It never did have a deadbolt. It was meant to be an garage door.

Unfortunately that meant mom could also easily come and go, letting herself and the dog in and out as she saw fit. Many close calls, with observant neighbors who either saw mom or the dog wandering, alerted us it was definitely time to change our door out for something more secure. I tried safety locks, childproofing measures, finding out they were only good if nobody was trying to get inside. And of course fire safety is a consideration.

Ultimately we hired a contractor to replace the entire door. This one has an actual <a href="http://<a target="_blank" href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YUPDW0Q/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00YUPDW0Q&linkCode=as2&tag=myfinefamily-20&linkId=c4daab0ea582eb25ffb30b9809c92681">SCHLAGE BE479AA V CAM 619 Satin Nickel Sense Smart Deadbolt with Camelot Trimdeadbolt, which in itself has been confusing enough for mom to leave it alone. Hopefully this is the end of our issues.
The window got covered with <a href="http://<a target="_blank" href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N20YR6B/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B01N20YR6B&linkCode=as2&tag=myfinefamily-20&linkId=4234a452b8003bdcc0f23bbbd363867d">rabbitgoo Window Privacy Film, Rainbow Window Clings, 3D Decorative Window Vinyl, Stained Glass Window Decals, Static Cling Window Sticker Non-Adhesive, 17.5 x 78.7 inchesprivacy film but it makes the entrance much brighter. And a screened window opens, letting all those mysterious smells from moms room air out. Yay!
