We took a drive up to Palisades Reservoir this weekend with some kayaks good friends lent to us.

Besides the smoky haze of California fires, it was a beautiful day. Karen (she won’t respond to “mom” anymore) loved the scenery and I put on John Denver and Beatles songs so she could sing along. At one point I was talking to the boys about speech impediments, and “Rosie the red rabbit ran through the rain” came up. Mom lit up and said “I know that!” We had a good reminisce for a couple minutes. Then it was back to her salad speech.

The boys said it was the best weekend of this summer. They can’t wait to do it again.
