We were lucky or unlucky enough (depending on your outlook) to have a rental car that fit all 5 of us nicely for the weekend, since Shaun had broken down on his business trip a few days before.

We decided to take advantage and take the jaunt out to Craters of the Moon with mom.

Unfortunately, with the amount of walking involved, and the breeze that day, she was not in much of a mood to do any hiking. which meant Shaun or I had to stay behind while the rest of the family did some exploring.

We tried multiple times to get her outside walking. One spot she felt adventurous, had lava tubes formed by lava going around trees that I wanted to see. She attempted the walk, but when we saw it would be almost a mile, we turned back.

It was fun, but slightly disappointing not to get to the attractions I’ve been wanting to see for a few years. Maybe another time.
