Neighborhood notice

I have been debating on sending a flyer around the immediate neighborhood with moms photo and my contact information. Ever since the weather has been getting warmer, mom has decided to take her usual walks. Unfortunately she is also wandered into the backyards of neighbors. So far it has been neighbors who know where she lives and either we catch her, or they escort her home. I have been thinking about starting a neighborhood facebook group, but today found out there is actually one already out there for the last 5 years. So I’m getting ready to do a very personal post to the wall. Which is way outside of my comfort zone. I’m going to practice here what to say….. Here goes nothing…..

I would like to introduce you to Karen G…. she has been living in this neighborhood for almost 3 years now. She is very social and an extrovert (much to the dismay of her introvert daughter). If she could, she would tell you about her accomplishments including her many years as a elementry school teacher, being Relief Society president, a bishops wife for 8 years and church organist performing for temple dedications. Unfortunately she has been given the diagnosis of Alzheimers and despite being in very good health otherwise, she has forgotten not only her accomplishments, but even her five children’s names, and most recently how to get home from her much loved walks. If you happen to see her wandering, would you please return her to 1095 Vine Ave, or call me at (801)842-**** or my husband Shaun (801)502-****. And yes, She does have a medical alert braclet and GPS tracker if we can get her to keep them on.

  1. It sounds good to me! I’d suggest trying out NEIGHBORHOOD.COM, as well as FB Local groups by your area. There’s no shame in keeping mom safe. I’m sure there are plenty of people that experience a family member with similar restrictions.

    You’re doing great!
