Piano
I think Sunshine likes mom’s piano playing

Mom gets very possessive over her piano. She constantly reminds people that it’s hers. And unfortunately for us, if anyone else tries to sit down and play it, she is right there hovering and saying “that’s MY piano you know”. Although Jack would love to play it, he gets intimidated by her anytime he tries.
When she first moved in in 2017, we had grand ideas of her “teaching” Jack and ran out to the music store to buy beginners piano lesson books. But as soon as we got home and tried one on one instructions, it was apparent that would never work. Words fail her and frustration of not being able to explain things properly was too much for mom to handle. Even now, there are very few songs she can pick out. She forgets and it becomes a loop of sitting down to play, struggling to find a tune, getting frustrated and abandoning the piano then a couple hours later, she tries again.
For many decades, she was a music teacher, composer, choir director and pianist, played the organ at church and even dedications at Temples, and woke us kids up every morning, not with alarms and knocking on doors, but with lively piano tunes in the morning. Piano has been her life. She’s trying desperately to hang on to it.
