FootBall
So we have been quite hermits due to the weather, although this year is better then last year for mom. She actually wants to go places this winter, but I do have to remind her to dress appropriately every time. I forgot to check her shoes two days ago and she was wearing her sandals on the walk to JoAnns. Unfortunately my neighbors between us don’t think a snow shovel is necessary in Idaho and fail to shovel the walks. So she got toes full of snow and of course complained nobody told her to wear boots. But when I do suggest she change from her spring hoodie to a water coat she get indignant and “of course she was going to change her clothes, I’m not a child!” no winning on my end.
We got her Ancestry Composition back from 23andMe. No surprises there, 68.5% British & Irish, 17.4% French & German, 3.1% Scandinavian. My report showed 59.3% British & Irish, 17.7% French and German, 9.8% Scandinavian. The rest states “Broadly European”. And Andrea is 26% French & German, 52% British & Irish.
Genetics is so fascinating. I am tempted to get the health panel done on mom, but I know they push out sales on occasion, so we will wait for some marketing promotion before forking over $149 to add that on.
We will be watching the Super Bowl today, having our annual “everybody must watch a football game at least once a year” (if only for the commercials). Its kinda become its own holiday in our house. Jack invited his friend Taylor, and the boys get excited planning the meal. This year is tricky because Shaun started the modified Keto or low carb, high fat diet which completely goes against my no red meat diet. Im trying really hard to be supportive and to make him successful. He cannot leave this earth in the next 20-30 years at least. So “fusion” plant based/keto foods here we come……

Chili recipe……
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bag Boca meat
- 2 Tbsp chili powder
- 2 tsp seasoning salt
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- 1 tsp cumin
- 2 cans tomatoes, diced
- 1 4 ounce can diced green chilis
- 1 cup veggie broth
Add sour cream, avocado and cheese.
*yes no beans are used in this chili. And its quite good. They emptied the pot, so I think I will double the recipe for Super Bowl Sunday. Pictures to follow
