Halloween and swallowing issues

Fun year for Halloween, Joe dressed as fancy cat, Jack the Joker (no he has not seen the movie).

Cat and joker

Mom helped scoop pumpkins, but the carving was too much.

We took her to Chinese food dinner at Yummy House downtown, where she found a baby to talk to instead of eating. She gets offended at the sight of so much food, especially if she’s already eaten appetizers. “they expect me to clean my plate!” then scoffs and eye rolls. No mom, just eat what you can, we can take home the rest.

1+1 no longer equals two for her. More then two steps, like putting pills in her mouth and getting water to swallow them is a problem unsolvable for her. Unless everything is handed to her or placed right in front of her, it’s just not going to happen. There are times both Shaun and I have to remind ourselves its the disease and not an attention seeking behavior. I snapped a picture of her turning in circles with pills in her mouth, not knowing to get the water on the counter to swallow them down.

This is a recent development. And yesterday when we were all getting out of the car she did not follow us to the building, instead standing by the car, until I turned back to check on her, noticed she didn’t follow us, and had to go back to get her. I wish I knew what she is experiencing, but then again I really don’t. She’s getting sassier as it progress’ which I’m sure is a defense mechanism, but at the same time, it pushes people away. It’s quite a conundrum.
