Slipping
I got home from work and checked on mom, she is wearing two tops, slacks, winter socks and sandals, and has the heaters on in her room as temperatures are climbing past 80 degrees outside. When we opened the door, a humid 84 degree heatwave hits your face. I quickly opened windows, turned off her heater, which she had up full blast to dry her garments which were wet. She had not overheated yet, by some miracle, but I switched out her water tower for her air conditioning unit to quickly cool down her room. (The water tower was not getting used by her, and stagnant water was inevitable). We went to visit Joann’s much cooler house so she and her room could cool down.
For dinner Shaun cooked some salmon and chicken on the bbq. While we were all sitting on the back porch, Joe says… “what’s that noise?” We both heard running water, but I had just turned the sprinkler on in the front yard. I was seconds away from dismissing the water noise, when my caregiver fears kicked in, I ran into moms room where sure enough, she had plugged her kitchenette sink and left the faucet on creating a waterfall onto her bedroom rugs. 😖

It’s getting worse I fear. Decision making is non existent, she’s unable to function without prompts in any capacity.
This book The 36 Hour Day should be required reading for any caregiver.
