Admittance

Two stories about mom from this weekend….. On our walk one day, we passed by a neighbors home, Alan, who sees us coming and comes out to talk to us frequently. He was talking about doing Karaoke, and not being able to remember a song name, and mom said “I can’t remember things a lot, they say I have Alzheimer’s”. 😮 this is the first time I’ve heard her admit it out loud to another person.

Another time, we were all in different places the house doing our things, when a huge clattering sound came from somewhere in the house, I hollered at Shaun “are you okay?” While he’s hollering at the kids downstairs “are you okay?” We decided the sound came from moms room, so I knocked on her door and said “are you okay?” She said she was just sitting in her chair when a lamp came crashing down “all the way across the other side of her room!” So we picked things up and went on our way. On Sunday I asked her if she wanted to go to church, because she’s been complaining of a sore throat, and told her Jacks flu shot seemed to be getting the best of him, he woke with a fever and a red swollen sore arm. She then says, ” yeah my arms pretty sore from running into that lamp yesterday!” 🤨? The story changes….

I really think she expects me to scold her sometimes, which I never have before. She is very childlike in many ways. Whenever she drops something, or makes a mistake, she immediately says “it wasn’t me!”
