Ever since we had the piano tuned mom has complained that he turned it into “a concert grand piano” that it should be in a music hall. She was refusing to play it, saying it hurt her ears, so we got another piano turner because she refused to have the first tuner back to fix it. She was certain he ruined it. The new piano tuner had specific instructions not to bang on her keys like the last, and he spent an hour buffing down the new hammers to make them old again. It was tuned perfectly he said, but she had gotten so used to how the 29 year old piano sounded, so he took away the “brightness” until she was satisfied. Unfortunately he couldn’t fix her memory so even though it’s been over a week, she still has trouble playing music. Now she is back to “someone’s been messing with my music”, instead of blaming the piano tuner.
